神前置詞とは

意外と使いこなせていない…?
簡単な英語なのに、意味が分からない…。使い方が意外だったり、自分の口からは出てこないかも!的な使い方があるのが前置詞です。
例えば、「in」は「〜の中に」や「~(日時)に」という意味で訳されることが多いため、部屋や建物などの「物理的な空間」を表すときと、年や季節などの「時間的な空間」を表すときだけに使うものだと思われがちです。しかし、神前置詞「in」で使える範囲はそれだけに留まらず、以下のような「心理的な空間」にいる状態までもカバーすることができるのです。
・私たちは恋に落ちました。→ We’re in love.
・困っています。→ I’m in trouble.
また、中学で習う「with」にも多用な使い方があります。「一緒に」という意味で覚えると使える範囲が限られてしまいますが、「何かとともに」という広いイメージで捉えると、以下のような、ネイティブがよく使うフレーズも表現できるのです。
